Ritchey 2 x 9 Help

Hi Phil, I am using a full ritchey 2 x 9 setup, comprising of :

Front and rear Ritchey (Sram) Gripshifts

Me thinks you mean Sachs on the shifters...or did SRAM put the sachs logo on them for Sachs? I have a set from a bike that have Sachs molded in the grips. Did you check with Sheldon Brown or maybe Wes or Jeff at First Flight. They may have an answer on this.

yep your right fella, they are sachs grippys, not sram I hav'nt tried sheldons site, or contacted first flight, but I'll do that, do you have a contact address or is on there website ?

The dirt on the cassette and freehub body was once clean and to be honest it was the same even when it is spotless, and if you look at the 33t ritchey ring installed , it cannot physically fit any further onto the freehub body, even if it was cleaned,

I hav'nt got a XT 8spd cassette, but have a XTR and Sram 8spd cassette and these sit no differently or further into the freehub body.

Regarding dirt, if you are saying you had it spotless and the problem was the same then that's fine. However if you haven't tried it I would as you'd be surprised what problems tolerance stack up can cause, if each contact surface is offset 0.1mm, by the time you've got the lock ring going on it'll be over a 1mm to far from the threads...

As for the cassettes issue. I have a 4 arm I can measure as it's not being used.

YEP! it was spotless, when I originally tried to fit all this, and it was the same..

Would really appreciate if you would measure the XT one you have, and if you have any pics that might be helpful for a comparison ..
