Reversing Hope hub spacers for singlespeed

I am trying to get a decent chainline in a 'parts box special' Singlespeed build.

I have a nice old Hope Ti screw-on rear hub, but of course the spacing is all wrong for a single freewheel instead of a 7s one.

Is there anything wrong about swapping the axle (and axle spacers) end-for end and then building the wheel up with dish the wrong way round? I've worked out the spoke lengths etc and it looks doable.

Anyone tried this kind of thing and can offer the benefit of experience?

I'm running a Hope screw on hub on my Singlespeed.

Flipping the whole hub axle and spacers is the method. It is quite easy, you need to remove the outer spacers and then heat the bearing housings up with a heat gun to allow them to expand. When they are hot enough you should just be able to lightly tap the end of the axle out and the whole bearing and axle assemble will slide out one side. Flip the axle around and leave to cool down. It is a ideal time to renew the bearings if they are worn.

The back wheel needs quite a bit of re dishing and the freewheel will still sit quite inboard with the axle flipped. This is not too much of an issue with chain line, but bear in mind you will need a tensioner that has linear adjustment.
I've run the hub set up like this for 6 months with no problems.

Thanks Steve - the hub flipped easily enough, relaced the wheel which looks a little odd with the reverse dish.

Just some truing to go...
