Yepp, we often set my bike up on Dave's roof and then I sit on it whilst Dave drives the car up a big hill. We have found it is the best way for the both of us to arrive at the top at the same time

I have officially gone soft and acquired a 39t chainring to replace the 42t which is already fitted. :facepalm:

I can't believe i'm even talking about gears.

Are mudguards crucial? I don't think I can get them on my road bike, could I not just stay out of the cafe if I get grubby?

You should be ok, as the mud and wet is after the cafe stop.

will you ever grasp the idea of the retro ride? they are supposed to be a social event,not lets find the steepest hill and try and ride a shagged out old bike up it.nothing has been learnt from last years poor turn out at the series and this year will be the same. you would probably be a much better turn out if you went along the lines of the MTB rides where it is more about having a good time not the athletic performance
