Restoring a Basso Frame

Retro Newbie
Hi,

I'm really pleased I found this forum!

I've recent acquired a Basso frame from 1989 called the Fior Di Loto. You can see an example here: http://www.velociao.com/wp-content/gall ... 134010.jpg

It has a lot of rusty patches which I have managed to remove but now I face the problem of touching up the bare metal. From the photo, there are three colours that I will need to match - lilac, yellow and white.

Does anybody have any suggestions how I can restore the colour scheme accurately?

Thanks in advance from a newbie retro restorer.

Richard

Re:

Nice looking bike that & paint scheme typical of the time. A long way from the matt black that is todays primary offering. Regarding having scuffs etc sorted it depends on budget but chips away (and other similar operations) offer the service usually reserved for vehicles, but they will do bike frames and can colour match in most instances. http://www.chipsaway.co.uk/services/pai ... scratches/ Not a sales pitch for the above company, simply an option to pursue given your colourscheme is unlikely to be available via touchup pens etc.

the colours worked for me straight away,i would never have thought of those colours in a million.
i recently got some filler putty to build up a base to areas where the paint is missing.
a paint supplier up my way mixes up and puts in an aerosol using codes off colour charts, but you have to buy
a large can. then i spose spray into the lid and model brush from there.the yellow and white maybe touch in pens.
not forgetting the humbrol modelling paints.

Blimey, to a 70's throwback like me that's complicated !

How about getting it professionally sorted? Someone Like Chris Marshall I'm sure would tackle that :)

Hi Richard, welcome to the forum. Try Nail varnish. Available in all sorts of lurid colours from your friendly local cut price 'pharmacy' shop. Works for me for small areas.
