Removing rust from inside frame...?

I don't know of any method that would allow you to see in side.
There maybe a device that can measure wall thickness but you'd need to know what they should be in the first place.
I've never seen a bike that rusty and I once found a pre WW1 hercules in a drainage pit in a London underground depot.
And yes it did still ride, after a bit of a talking to.
You might be better off starting a new thread on frame repairs to get a bit more detailed response, i'm sure some one must have had a frame repaired.

+1 , and for the record I had a frame repaired ... several times. First the right e-stay broke, then the left one cracked, then the headset welding and BB welding let go at the same time. The chainstays were a design flaw, the rest was bad welding.

You can have it X-rayed to see if there's any serious issues, but that won't be cheap and I have no idea where you can get it done.

thanks for the tip guys (to start a new thread), but yesterday I found someone who can replace rusted chainstays, so I'm all set there. But good info on the rust removing and frame protection!!
