Recreating those amazing paint jobs... 1990's GT

I know of some blasters now and another good powder coaters so lots options. The rust remedys have all be used on my old skool Fords! :S


Great work Drystonepaul, good tips there, some seem obvious now you say though I'd not thought of it bizarrely! Those clever Tiawanese craftspeople.
I suppose I don't even like the 1992 Avalanche paint job, the 1991 holds more nostalgia. this could be dangerous, mightmean I 'look' for a 1991 afterall, doh! though 1992 had some cool innovations!
Sinnet is quite a refurb and refind legend!

I have a 92 Avalanche which I am going to give some paint resto to over the winter.
Bought it because is was a bargain (aren't they all) rather than any great liking for the finish.
Also got a 96 Backwoods and a couple of others which will be getting some paint.

I'd not thought about it much, I've had this for like 3 years or more and done nowt, working though modern classics instead. Now I'm thinking about this a 91 paint on 92 would be just a bit wrong, doesn't mean I shouldn't ...this makes me want to save up and search out a nice 91! What I had intended to do was a nice monochrome make over, blast and powdercoat in one colour, white or blue and opposite colour decals if Gil does them. That would look pretty smart and I have enough parts to just about do it, though no original bars and a cut down seatpost for some reason and no AME grips, so some sympathetic mods are doable and it still won't owe me too much.

I just remembered that I have a mid 90's outpost frame Liam 1611 gave me, could be a good test mule if I rug up a spray tent next summer!
