Possible RS fork restoration - help me please

yes but they are magnesuim so i dont think they can be polished or they will fall apart ?

Kirk anyone ?

My mag 21s went through about ten colour s before they were nicked.

I stripped the paint off with Nitromors after wrapping the tops of the legs in masking tape.

I went through a polished/ laquer stage

Red

Blue

Gold

Black

they were blue when they were nicked

Angle of the photograph!

I cropped this out of my For Sale pic that had a few bits in it and everything was chucked on my shed floor

They'd be easy to paint without stripping them down, just
remove the fork brace and carefully mask up the stanctions and seals.

They'd still need to be stripped back to bare alloy though using
something like nitromorse

I think the paint i used on my Bombers is a fairly close match to the
gold on the Rockshocks if a little metalic.

It's Plasticote Brass metalic bought from B&Q, used Halfords primer
and laquer though, the Plasticote paint is Acrylic so its tougher than
car paint.

unless its a self levelling paint your using stay away from brushs, takes a lot of skill to leave a perfect finish
Spraying is the best solution ,it will leave the finest of professional finish
Spray in thin layers, many coats as you can ,over 2-3 layers of primer
Your final coats should be cut back using wet and dry [v fine] witth a water lube [wet the paper]
give it a final coat ,then leave the whole thing to cure for at least a week.
Or pay some skilled bloke with 5 grands worth of compressor and gun to do it for you
