It was bonkers!

My absolute favourite era for the term 'hifi'. They made cracking car radios as well. Only Clarion came close at that time.

Check out this guy's pages: http://www.johnweeks.com/random/pioneer/

I can put together a mad 'stacking' system but nowhere as bonkers as this:

You've got to love that era of technology for technology's sake.
Back in either 1977 or 1978, my mum bought a Sony stereo radio cassette recorder (or "boombox" as they were called in the 80s). The number of sockets on the back of that thing made it look like something you'd find in a recording studio... :)

Never did understand why they set the sliders on the EQ like that for the pic.

Had one of these in my car running to Canton speakers back in the mid 80s.

Bonkers, I'll say - why is the advert on a beach? Is it aping something I'm not getting?

Looks like start of 2001: A Space Odyssey, with the evil monkeys and the black thing. In which case, 'aping' is a good word choice!

Less is more IMHO.

Must have looked awesome in the front room next to the minibar, with the orange curtains and the white XJ-S on the drive!

The 70's rock!
