I'm ggoing to use 3M Helicopter tape on a frame I am having sprayed at Argos. Its a thin clear tape developed for the leading edge of helicopter rotor blades in the Gulf and is tough as nails. Its quite commonly used by mountain bikers to protect the frame from rocks thrown up on the trail.

I was given an old Peugeot at the weekend and it had this on it. The bike is from 1986 I think judging by the date stamp on the hubs. Seems fairly typical for that period.

I have a couple of those on my bikes that have remained unchanged from the 80's. Have periodically searched for them for my newer retro purchases, but alas only carbon effect ones, which are way off retro.
