it was launched by Monsieur Verot by spelling his last name backward and then affixing the -esse
suffix for "exoticness"

launch seems to have been immediate postwar

Surprisingly I've seen many Favorites and parts (some even NOS) for sale here in Finland. I have pictures of a 50s model with Huret derailleurs that was for sale recently.

No markings that I could see and I don't recal if the tube was seamed. The headset is Stronglight P3 as is on the DBS Super Sport.


You asked about the chainguard that was fitted on the Monark, it has no markings and suspect it's from a Tunturi Retki 6 from the 70s. Those came with three-arm/-bolt fauber crank.

I think the Monark will be done for now as I don't know how far I want to take the restoration. All the bolts are almost rounded off, the seatpost is crushed a pit (weird, 24mm size) and for the crank I need to find some acceptable M7's for the age. The bolt hole on the P-knuckle has worn so that there is significant play on the pulley cage. I need to take some material off of the lower knuckle bolt as there is a step after the thread that prevents the assembly to tighten all the way.

Production date unknown, but I would say prototype from the late 60s/early 70s.

Pump stop on top of the top tube so that it doesn't disturb the aero? Belgian colors on the seat tube? Looks like the early version of the 1010/a(301/a) Campagnolo dropouts from '71.

Post war? Maybe it was a trend for tube manufacturers in the 40s/50s. The "avitin" was just a typo from me, the word "flyg" translates to plane and "stål" to steel, another Swedish source states that the CRMO composition used on the frames was loaned from the airplane manufacturing and thats why the nickname "flygstål".
 
The wrong with my redder Lejeune is that the head tube is out of alignment by couple of degrees. Don't know how or why, but the fork looks to be straight on all axes so I don't think it's because of a front wheel side-impact.

could see no impact stress markings in the usual places from your posted images

wonder if it was made with this error

once encountered an odd head misalignment on a 1973 Raleigh RRA

evidently Raleigh had their mitre cutter mis-set such that when the head was pressed onto the top & down it sat off-centre when looking straight down on the frame -

- one of those misalignments which is not coldsetable...:confused:
