On One Going Retro - Fat Chancer?

Hmmm, mention On-one and the usual self opinionated suspects line up for a pot shot. Its getting a tad boring now.

Anyway... perhaps I'm wrong, but I'm detecting more than a hint of irony in the 'statement' from On-One.

Oh yeah, I forgot, we are not allowed opinions on here anymore. Its just a bring and buy sale where we all sit around trading parts. Talking about retro bikes or even riding them- I shudder at the thought.

Sorry for the offence.

Am I a usual self opinionated suspect? Cool!

I can only go by my own experience of riding the On-One I had and it was disappointing.

Now I'm off to bump my post count up so I can upset newbies....

Could be the same iron they make frames from?

I wasn't suggesting someone make a frame called a yo eddy more copied one. This only sprung to mind BTW with the mention of the FAT Chancer. I would assume kwality control is improved as well as you say the butting accuracy. Also the materials will have come on somewhat 853/953 is a wee bit of a step up from 80's tubing. Niche products are definately viable too IMO, Salsa have a fair market producing frames for 80mm/rigid forks.

Anyway the point was along the lines of even though you can copy something and maybe make it better, is it any better? Or does the intangible qualities of the original supercede new tech? e.g new mini vs old...kinda.

On-Ones are made from scaffolding pole

Quick call Health and Safety, get those guys off those buildings, they're all going to die !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well done Si, you may have averted the deaths of countless construction staff

Anyhoo, one of the founders of On-One owned a Fat Chance back in the day, thats why he likes them enough to pay homage even if a tad misguided

Should pay hommage to the original buy finding a real one and restoring/ridong it... not by buiding a 'replica'. Still think it's a big wind up anyway lol
