On-One: Fat Chancer retro steel frame

Storm in a teacup, got both and don't really think there is a gulf in class between them, this is of course retro bike so I will be shot down for this but the on-one rides better over more modern trails the yo better over more sedate xc rough stuff., IMHO, there is a self serving snobbery in claiming fats are so amazing (they don't even have drainage holes ffs!) I love the fat story and my yo but who really is going to fall for such outlandish claims by on-one anyway?

Ok, maybe not a perfect example...

How many kit car companies have paid homage to the famous Lotus 7... Locost 7, Westfield Speed Sport etc...

Cheers,

Chaser

Think thats a fair analogy, to me those cars( bar the caterham) look shit. Invariably shonky, poorly finished made out of scrap and never quite right, purists will balk but they must find a place in someones garage.

They do allow the 'not so well off' to have a taste of the spirit of what the real thing was though eh Kaiser? How many people can get their hands on an original FAT Chance or an IF [at those prices]
Can you imagine what it would do to some members if the Fat Chancer is available in Aquafade?

Actually, this  One One Westfield, although not a Lotus 7, looks pretty good to me??

Cheers,
Chaser.

Quite what the Fat Chancer will do is anyones guess, I see no design q's from a Yo and they never made any claims to what the inspiration was. This could be a bad sign because the only thing not apparent is the finish, so your aqua fade statement may be closer to the mark than you think. Will it give people a taste of Yo? I'm not sure.

Gazz your probably right, give me your FATs and I'll get you another two on ones

silly attempt at cashing in on the retro mtb thing. The only thing fat about that bike are the welds, and FCC bikes never had fat welds; the welds were always hard to spot, once the frames were painted...so so pretty :D

It's absolutely proper for owners and fans of the original to go off on this crappy attempt at a remake.

"BMW even hijacked the Mini!" I think can argue they paid for it.

I don't have an issue with any cheap, low spec frame, but I agree with most other people on this thread that on-one have set themselves up by creating the comparision with the yo-eddy, and not just leaving it at hi-jacking the name.

Both are bad, if they had just brought it out as a 'retro inspired' frame and called it something else more original etc then I doubt there would be such a fuss.

I have no problem with companies doing re-issues, see it in the skateboard world a lot and TBH it's not a bad thing but this is way off the mark!

I wonder if anyone on here will buy one and admit to it lol

The best analogy I can come up with is it is like Basshunter sampling Zeppelin
