Yes another! In light of Peachy's stunning idea to try to mortally injur ourselves on highly unsuitable bikes (when we all have quite capable cycles to spare), i thought i had better start a build thread; rather than clogging up the "official" race thread here.

It also appears that despite my best efforts to stop myself getting too involved in the project.....i have.

So here's my donor! Its hardly suitable, but then they never were!

Not much left, but its a terrible starting point too....so double win / fail.

Right, so the plan is not to spend any more than the £25 the donor cost...so maximum blagging, swapping, skip hunting required and imagination required.

I promised my self not to go too mad or get too involved......so ( just to break my own promise right from the work go) ive stripped the paint off!

Paint stripper rubbish these days....bring back the real nitromores! It should be called paint softner!

Ummmmm, bubbly.

All tje paints now off, ready for a bit of welding and fettling (nothing major) then some paint.

Bit of luck on the budget front as ive sold the seat and rack for £15 to a local looking for parts for his mrs bike! Result, so that's £15 to spend on the build!

Well, the wheels are toast! The cones have obviously been so loose, for so long, the race is now oval.....in both wheels! It must have been like riding a clown bike!

But, ive got some more hubs, that are infact a bit stronger and its given me the chance to cold set the frame to 130mm, to get them in.

Might as well ditch the rims too! As ones not great and loosing the 27 x 1 1/4" in favour of some pre 89, 700c will open up tyre options too.

But of course.....they need to basically be free! Hummmm.

To the dump batman!

( sorry recycling centre - as they basically they don't take anything they can't make money on).

Looking forward to seeing a dry/mock-up photo so I can add it to the main race thread

Im still trying to gather parts.....im sure there was more free stuff about when i were a lad.

I blame ebay and hipsters in equal measure.

Well, I've cleaned up one brake....and got some free bars and a seatpost long enough that i can ride it too.

Ive only ever used the other weinmann centre pulls before, the slightly chunkier, ones with the cable straddle.

We will see how they go! Or in fact don't go....if you see what i mean.
