Northern Lights

never seen them - but high on the list of must-do's. Wife's 50th birthday in a few years and she really wants to see them. May not have to travel as far as we thought if the increase in solar activity takes place as predicted!

I know a couple who went for a ten night stay in Hammerfest to watch the lights. Didn't see a sniff. It's a bit of a dump too that smells of fish.

Si have you seen the photo of them over Morpeth!

Gutted i missed it as well

They don't always dance around, sometimes you just get a steady band of glowing colour (most usually green) which can fade out unpredictably... sometimes you do get sort of flickers and sometimes sudden movement like gigantic curtains being suddenly swept across big areas of sky... quite unlike anything else you're likely to see really!

Will need to go out for a look tonight as it's been ages since I've seen much of a display here...

Never seen them in my life and as seeing them involves being outside in the dark and frankly cold I'll probably never see them. Seen a meteorite shower once but all the time I was thinking its bloody freezing and the colds getting to my bladder, pathetic really

I'll stick to fantastic sunsets in summer 8)

You can tell they're 'northern' lights as you can just see the flat cap behind the whippet and the chips & gravy.

And of course, these 'northern' lights are so much better than any of the soft southern pansy lights
