Its a Townsend.

I am utterly amazed there are still any left in one piece.

I started buying them 22 years ago, when still living with my parents, back then if i bought 10 at a time the trade price was only £32.00+vat each.

I sold them "New" assembled and serviced for £99.00, from the local paper.

Thankfully it didnt last long, as they were that BAD.

A BSO maybe, but at least it doesn't have front and rear suspension adding nothing except perhaps 10lbs in weight.

saw a lovely 80s 90s GT at the tip last week, same old hope stickers on the forks with pink/purple splatter paint (what is it?) guy refused to let me take it home :/

Doesn't ring a bell. I remember a Pink Smoke Tequesta but that doesn't sound like that paint job either.

Can't help but think the "Hope" sticker is something of a forlorn plea. When I first saw the pic, though, I was thinking "Abandon all hope all ye who enter..." though.
