I'm guessing the steel/alu Flexstems use the same quill/body as the Ti version?

It's the same yep.
Also the treadless version of the standard Flexstem can be swapped into the Ti combo as pivot spacing is the same. I converted mine like this, no prob's

Rode flexstem late 1980s early 90s (even with early Pace RC35s / RS Mag 21s) … I’d need a 1” quill unit to make this work - do the parts swap over ok?

Yes, swopped over different set ups (quill/ahead) many times and the tolerances and build quality is still top notch after all these years.
