New Member, bought Marin Muirwood bike for £69 on Gumtree

Hello,

Just joined today after reading through the site for a couple of weeks. Have got the bug to own a Marin bike. Don't know why but the Marin name brings back great memories of when I lived in San Francisco in the early eighties

Found this Marin Muirwood bike for sale on Gumtree at £69.00. Spoke to the chap selling it and he assures me that this is one very tidy, little used bike. He got it from a house clearance. Loved the colour and it looks as if it has the original tyres. Picking it up tomorrow. 220 mile round trip driving to get it.

Will send an update once I get it home.

I would appreciate any help in identifying the year it was made and any pitfalls i should be aware of.

I sorted a friend out with a Marin (although a more recent one) a year or so ago...he's been hooked on bikes ever since

220 mile round trip? Woaweewa!!...look fwd to seeing yr bike. No doubt the resident experts will have it dated within seconds, always amazed at the wealth of knowledge hereabouts.

Yes it is the one. I have no plans to change the bike. In all honesty I want to ride the the bike as is, and keep it that way.

220 mile round trip is nothing if the bike lives up to my hopes. there will be a pub lunch on the way back, shandy and a big smile.

Looks very nice and original. The fluro Muirwoods gives me a fuzzy feeling too Seems to be a lot of retro Marin love around at the moment.

Thank you, that fuzzy feeling is real to me. 5 years in USA in the late 70s early 80s. enough said.
