There are springs inside, and that outer piece allows you to get tension, howver when I tighten it all up, they just lock up - no tension at all :(

I seen a number of things like this back in my bike shop days.

If the springs are still inside then what you want to do is mount them on the brake bosses making sure that the spring goes through the wee hole on your frame / forks, then do up the brake bolt but not all the way as you next want to get a cone spanner onto the flats of the bit which the brake bolt goes through and twist clockwise to apply tension to the canti arm, last but not least do the bolt up tight and (supposedly) VOILA! functiong canti's.

In my experience however this system was prone to loosening off or not being able to get enough tension on it in the first place. If you're really struggling then you could always try swapping the springs out for more powerful ones from another set of canti's.

good luck! :)

Thanks, but the spring doesn't reach the bosses, it locates in the canti itself, then there is this thick, rubber washer that sits on the boss, then the canti goes on... there doesn't seem to be any purchase against the boss and I suspect the whole thing is moving around when In mimick the action of the canti..

Possibly got me stumped then I'm afraid as I would have thought that the spring would need to locate somewhere to stop the whole thing turning....hmmm :? .

Have you tried doing without the washer thingy and trying to get the spring to locate in the hole? I'm pretty sure the spring should have a tab at each end, one that goes through the front of the canti body and the other should fit through something to stop the whole thing turning.

Just sold some in black, Joes brakes, elite504 runs em, PM him if your still having problems

I've got a similar system on my curve canti's that i bought from magicmistertea ,i was completely lost on setting them up
PM him and he'll may know
On mine[the curve cantis] the spring doesnt go into the holes on the frame bosses but into the canti arm at 1 end and the spring cover at the other
You load the tension on the spring by turning the spring cover with a spanner, then while holding it in that position tighten down the bolt that secures the canti to the frame boss
does this help
or even make sense?

Guys... sorted.. I got the rear pair working.. I found some things that can only be described as tubes, when I put them on the bosses, it tightened the hole and everything worked... problem is, I only have one pair of canti boss tube thingy's... :?

YEAY, ALL DONE NOW...

I just made some shims for the canti bosses and hey presto...

The Adroit is nearly built... just cables to go... should be posting pics today or tomorrow... 8)
