Mysterious disappearing bike: I tried riding one of these once...

I saw this bike in the Vintage Mountain Bike section of eBay:

The price seemed reasonable, so I arranged a test ride with the seller.
I sat down on it to ride it and immediately experienced sharp pain, but even worse, imagine my surprise when I got back up and turned around, and it was gone!

As for me, when I told the emergency room nurses that I slipped and fell in the shower, they weren't the least bit surprised.
They said it was the eighth time this week, and it was only Monday morning, so I didn't feel singled out.
Sitting around the waiting room with those 7 other guys was certainly awkward, though.
We were all definitely bummed
