Hi,
I kind of mentioned it on the side in some topics, but as a graduation project I made a concept bike for Cannondale.
Well it is 99,99% guys on here, and it's a ladies bike, but no worries there are many 'man' gadgets on it. And as you
might know, the most stylish men here in Holland always ride an omafiets Production is not yet certain, as Cannondale
has to find it's place within the Dorel group.
Let me know what you think, I am well aware that it is not without mistakes as it is only a concept and a hand built
prototype (that does not yet contain all the ideas). Some good constructive criticism can only help me.

You can find a video of the bike here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F5GYrGyXCAQ

Here is more info on the bike: http://bicycledesign.net/2009/11/cannon ... follow-up/

Thanks

um you will need to consider the cost of things as it doesnt look like it will be ridden by the sort of person who will know about bikes and they wont want to be paying huge sums of money to get the local bike shop changing parts. make the parts as universal as possible, this will allow for the user to obtain parts easily and also allow the room for upgrades if wanted. looks good mate! i love the hollow bottom bracket thing

Very nice work there.
I like the frame design with the mudguards integrated and used as part of the structure of the frame. The integrated rear light looks good too.

The sealed transmission and brakes are very practical and look to have been executed in a very aesthitically pleasing way.
Is the transmission a shaft-drive or a belt? Does it or will it have gears?

I really like the way that the handlebars can be folded and used as a lock and I like the way the folding action locks the brakes on by restricting the fluid in the brake circuit. Very clever stuff.
Finally the cranks look fantastic and I love the way you have combined the retro looks of the Omafiets with some very modern looking design features.
What are the prospects of taking it into production looking like, and how much do you expect it will sell for?

Very best of luck with your project. It looks great.

I like it, very clever 8)

The only thing is, it doesn't shout Cannondale at me.....I guess because it doesn't have their oversize downtube! I'd be interested to know their comments too.

@cyfa2809:

forgot to mention. it is supposed to be a concept all about maintenance free. So forget the idea of changing
parts. Drivetrain, gears and brakes are self adjusting (e.g. brakes are hydro open system). The target group
doesn't want to be bothered with maintenance, like a car, just take it to the Cannondale dealer every 2 years
and get it checked, pay the (big) bill and be off.

Yes this bike as it is now will be very expensive, (4g?) but as with concept cars, parts of it will find their way to
a production model. And there are guys buying bikes for 8000 quite and hardly use them to their full potential,
so why shouldn't the ladies be able to do the same; it is a fashion item after all, but then a practical form of
fashion.

From a concept point of view, i think you've hit all the right boxes, it's slick with fantastic attention to detail.

Cool, very cool. 8) Good work.

as b3 says for a concept itsperfect and im sure you know yourself what can be changed etc. i think if its as you say a mantenence free bike (so to speak) then thats great. well done mate, hope cannondale take you up on your design

that looks awesome. i really like the crank/bottom bracket. great work

I am very impressed.
Just been reading about it on a blog somewhere. When I was at university I did a concept for a commuter bike that would fold into the space of a spare wheel in a car, for "park and ride" users. Used a splined telescopic drive shaft to provide the drive to the rear wheel. Are you using a shaft drive here?
