MOTOR CHAT

1978 VW campervan who's chassis looked like this a few months back............

..........has been under the knife since before Xmas and is now insured, taxed and MOT'd :D

I am now officially broke

Any pics of how it looks now?

Remember my Dad's words to me and my brother when we bought our first cars, me a Mini, my brother a Morry Grand, "Ye've bought a car, noo ye'll start tae spend money".

At the moment I'm half way through changing all 4 discs and pads, 4 new shocks, replacement springs, for my Passat's upcoming MOT.
Ordered 2 complete Bosch wiper blades from Carparts4less, really just Eurocarparts online, as they were mega cheap at a tenner for the 2.
This was last Friday the 7th, UPS emailed to say they'd be delivered on the 11th Tues, didn't appear, nor Wed nor today, so checked the UPS tracking site again. Since Sun it's said they were "in transit" having last known location as the UPS base, they'd updated it today and they are in a town in Germany having been sent first to a town in Denmark, then another town in Germany before the 2nd town in Germany. Due for delivery, now, on Mon the 17th.
Phoned Carparts4less and they're sending replacements due for delivery by UPS tomorrow as I need them before the 17th.
All the rest of the stuff I've bought for MOT has arrived in 24hrs or at most 3 days from despatch the day after payment.

Re:

Sold my mad Escort MK4 RWD ex rally car project last weekend, TBH i had lost interest, didn't touch it at all last year, this year was looking to be the same, made sense to pass it on to someone with more enthusiasm.

Sold it on as a rolling shell, far more viable as a project than the bare shell i got it as, i've kept the half built Rover V8 so going to finish building that as a mini project.

New custodian is just up in Barrhead so the wee beast has stayed local, plans on fitting a YB Turbo Cossie motor in it, something i should have done, kept it simple instead of the Rover V8 engine.

So have an empty garage to fill, had plans to go and see a Cadillac on Saturday, proper full size (18.5' x 6.5') 81 Sedan Deville with a 6.0 V8 :) , guy was up for a part-ex with the BMW 750iL i have.

Thought about it and realised the Beemer is more comfortable, useable, reliable and quicker than the Caddy would ever be so backed out.

Maybe i'm finally starting to get a bit sensible with cars
