Re:

With the Discovery needing welding done to the inner wings and the Lotus being, well, an old Lotus i figured i should buy something sensible and reliable.

An old Citroen should do nicely :)

Never had a Citroen before anyway.

It's an XM Phase 1 2.0 Turbo Petrol SEi Manual, one of only 18 left on the road.

Seems sound, drives superb, has had a stack of recent work done.

Interior is very dark, full black including headlining.

Phase 1 cars have a more "Citroen" like dash with the single spoke wheel (pre airbags)

Car is fully loaded, even has an ELECTRIC ARM REST, i kid you not  , a wheel halfway up the drivers seat back i thought was for lumbar support actually pinches the seat bolsters in or out to suit Fat or Skinny drivers

Suspension goes up and down fine.

Re:

Superb! I love your 'sensible' cars :D I'm a big Citroen fan and would love to dabble with some of the older ones. Looks really nice 8)

Re:

Had a Citroen BX19GTI for a while - the only car I've ever bought and sold within a year

Nice and fast but EVERYTHING went wrong in the short time I had it - traded it in for a Volvo 240GLT Estate which I hung onto and stayed in the family for about 20 years. Superb car 8)

And in breaking news I have to announce I've blown the engine in the Subaru and just bought a Stop Gap Oil Burning Skoda Octavia in a very shady part of Dundee :P

You're going to have to narrow it down a bit.

I bet you don't have another one either ;) I'm getting travel sick just looking at the thing... my stomach has never been able to stand the awful bilious wallowing of "real" Citroens :(

I can see why you like it though, I do appreciate something a little bit different, it looks in great nick for the age and best of all isn't a diesel... I also love to see once "ordinary" and now rare cars like this kept on the road (more so than exotica) even if they are French!

Re:

I was working near Westerham around 1990 when a fleet of test drive Citroen XMs went passed loaded with journalists. Looked weird even then

Dundee - Lochee (very near where I bought a Triumph T140 as it appens)

Subaru - Motor turned into a bag of nails on the A1 in January. The RAC and Travelodge were involved
