Moderns chat?

I'm only using 2 and half categories on this site currently, and I'm settling in nicely after striking some deals n chats.

However where do you Gents and ladies go to chat about moderns? or don't you?

I was severely put off Pink Bike and have not dared MBUK or bike radar if its changed, course loads will be full of angst teens and dorks, which is why am asking, as most of us here are not teens, and cut our teeth on heavy, then light rigid/hardtails. I'm sure you know what i mean, no rush to grow up!


So where to fuel my (your) modern mojo?
I'm into general riding (old money free-riding), big tendencies after being here to build a modern XC bike in the future.

PS I had a look in the off topic section and not sure thats the right place either but i might try it(?)

Urm, no real modern chat here TBH.

A good few of us here do, or have had, modern bikes, but they dont tend to get discussed as our passion is with all things retro.

A site that I sometimes drop into (mainly to sell stuff) is www.uk-mtb.com. Member Andy B on here is an Administrator on there, and from what I have seen, there a top bunch on there. Andy is a great chap too, and its nice that he supports our site as well

As Pickle mentions, not a lot of modern chat on here, but loads on uk-mtb.com. A good selection of disciplines too (XC/Trail/DH....etc) as well as lots of experience & knowledge.

Not summat i've looking to a lot, I'm on car sites and a mate on there (street) hooked me up here, and it looks like am getting more into it all again which is good.

considering that in vintage / retro terms people would prob. say that I dont have retro or vintage bikes, my main interest isnt really there either it really dosnt matter tbh, its what you make it.

My interest is in putting together a bike that is my dream bike, vintage parts, oneoffs and new production items.

What I have found great with this forum is that not only are people knowladgeable but as well friendly which is a rare thing on online forums.
As long as you behave and you are a bikelover you will find people here to talk to and exchange ideas with.

Ive just registered over at UKMTB, in preparation for the arrival of my first brand spanking new bike in 15 years. (08 Epic comp).

However I couldnt agree more with the above statement of the friendliness of this forum.

Yeah I agree there, i do like the place and vibe/people I don't usually become a regular poster if its not good. its gonna be bad for my storage spaces/bank balance this site!

Its just i won't push my luck with my naughties bikes

I may take a look at UKMTB. My new FS-XC rig should be here next week. My taste in bikes is still early 90's but my riding style hasn't moved on. I no longer want to ride my retro bikes hard. so new skool bike - hire car mentality

My Avalanche doesnt get a great deal of love (in fact it is covering in mud at the moment, and going to get even more so tonight ), but then that is the nice thing about new bikes, they dont require a huge amount of maintenance.

And they are all black, so they dont show the dirt
