Modern MBUK - confused from Bedford...

Don't forget MBUK did a feature on retrobike a month back - they can't be bad eggs.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not dissing the mag, I'm just amazed how fragmented/diluted the whole scene has become and like many things in life I'm finding it's 'No Country For Old Men'

I'll just stick to what I know and love....and that's old bikes.....they don't make 'em like they used to :)

As with everything, it's all marketing bollocks these days. Why have face cream when you can have pentipeptids, why have a two bladed razor when you can have 6, why have a comfy bike when you can enduro-freeride?

MBUK appeals to the same people it did 15-20 years ago - the under 20s, remember how old you were when you avidly read it? I even thought that Rob Warner was cool back then  and I still think that Worland is a god!

Neilll - this is why you only see Yoofs at the Freeride / North Shore / 4X area of Chicksands, the bikes they ride can't handle the hardcore XC scene like our retro steads. Yeah, big up the old geezers on the funny looking bikes wearing brightly coloured tops with their arses in the air.

Your right REKI, its all Youffs into jumping and hooning. I think the XC scene will soon die out as a result.......

They reckon XC racing is making a come back with more races this year than last. I need to find the mag that article was in.

I dont see the point in buying bike mags anymore, the infos was available online a month earlier & the online reviews are less biased.
people say they get cheesed off wth banner ads on websites, i find paying for a mag with a large percentage of ads more annoying ;)

I love the niche elements of mtb, a 29er feels totally different to a 69er, which is different to a freeride bike, which is different to all mountain, dirt jump, DH, etc etc... yeh of course you can have one bike & probably ride most aspects of mtb on it, but its good to have specialist bikes & make your riding more varied :) just riding different type bikes on the same trail can make for a totally different ride :)

I loved the classfieds in the back of the old MBUK bikes, bits and events all in one place
