I don't do hypocrisy, nor indulge in disingenuous platitudes that don't mesh with my day to day antipathy towards people.

Seems there are a few here who just can't help themselves.

every forum i'm a member on that has a fairly active off topic side tends to develop a few distinctive types of member. the most memorable are normally those who take on an almost pantomime villain persona. my impression of MM was that he took on this role on this forum. I don't remember dealing with him in a sale (although i may have done), never had a crossed word with him and i don't have a bad word to say about the guy either but a fair few of his posts in the bike sections have answered some questions or made me think about different ways around things and losing someone who has the potential for valuable info is always a shame.

one thing i do know is that these forum 'pantomime villains' are usually fairly sound guys in the flesh, they just seem to get a bit carried away when they get behind a keyboard. Its a shame to lose someone who could give good info, but at the end of the day the management have got to act in a manner that is best for the forum as a whole.

I think there is an argument for bans from general chat or off topic or whatever, but retention for technical forums.

I would be up with that.

A lot of love for the member that we had more complaints about than any other. And the straw that broke the camels back was pretty unpleasant.

Always sad when someone is banned but Scott was warned/requested to desist again and again and again and wouldn't or couldn't. Even a temporary ban didn't work. Despite being cut more slack than anyone else, perhaps saddest of all, there was almost an inevitability about the ending, a question of when rather than if.

No doubt that Scott was an enthusiastic chap who provided some useful help. However that side got rather masked by the almost constant, casual bigotry. And regardless of the hoary defence of PC gone mad, that really has no place on a forum focusing on bikes.

One would hope this is a short lived thread.

It would not be fitting for it to descend into the mire.

It would only seem that way from a very few posters.

Generally MM was a gem.

This was as difficult as taking out Osama, and that makes me wonder a little.

I am no conspiracy theorist, but Marin Man and Osama seem to have met similar fates.

He had to be ended, no matter how it played.
