MacRetro chat and rides thread

Prob do an aftermath thread at some point over the next few days. I didn't get many pics as I just had too much fun riding. P20 got a few and had his helmet cam on all day so we might have the footage of me coming a cropper a few times.
Thrunton will be my next ride out on the Klunker and your all welcome to have a blast.
Just a word of advice on gearing for SSUK. Did not ride the course today but the red route probably is quite similar terrain. Reanimation ran 38/16 today without too much trouble. Take alternative ratios with you and try the course on the sat before making your choice. Another thing is that some of the red sections have suffered a little over the winter and one got quite a beating today- if you are going rigid, choose some larger tyres.

2.1 ok do you think? as the dale is bone jarringly rigid- was going 34/17 don't really have another option so better be ok.

looking forward to getting a go on the klunkstead as well as the Fat- can't wait 8)

with a gearing that low gash id suggest you start pedalling now

all this build up id be disappointed if its just a red route :( but i suspect itl be mostly black with joining green

im going to have to deal the male model card while i retreat for a whitty retort

Gearing

Hi Lads
Dr S, please dont encourage him

More on this gearing issue, how do you think the 32/16 will go from what you have seen today?

Impossible to say really as the route is secret still. Going on general topography and knowing Gil (who likes da flow) I'd guess that a straight 2:1 would be a little low. Last time (and only time) I SS'd Dalby I ran 34:16 which was about right then. I did notice that I was feeling much fresher at the end yesterday,( so my training has been worthwhile) so I guess 34:15 could even be possible with the inevitable spot of pushing & carrying here and there.

Take 15,16 & 17T sprockets with you and have a spin around on the Saturday.

Gaz- you are in for some pain on that Cannondale, does it have bounce on the front?
