Looking for Brodie info, Sovereign/Expresso help needed.

Hey folks, I have been offered both a Sovereign and an Expresso frame, but know little about the Brodie brand, can someone shed some light, point me in the right direction for some info?

Seller states they are both 19" frames and the top tube measures 23", but one is designed for a 75mm suspension fork and one is for a 50mm fork. He also has a gatroblade fork, which I'm assuming would suit the frame meant for a 50mm fork.

So I guess my question is, which is more desirable, higher in the spec chain. What would be the value of just the frame alone if it were in good shape? I've asked for pics, so hopefully that will help.

Cheers,
Steve

OOoooo lucky you. There have been a few threads in the past, try the "search" icon up above as a start. Gator forks are quite rare.

Indeed, lucky you.

I don't think that there is too much between them as far as I know - I'm guessing the Sovereign was designed for the shorter fork as they had a earlier production run than the Expresso. They also had various detail changes over the years, it would be good to know the years of manufacture?

Get the Gatorblade by the way..and some pics up 8)

So I guess the first matter of business should be determining each model year. I've gone through the catalogues on here and the dimensions are pretty much the same, but looks like the Sovereign is a higher end/lighter bike with curved seat stays, while the expresso is a tad heavier (195g difference on 1996 models) and straight seat stays. I supposed I'd be happier with either one. Still waiting on pictures...

One I can help with...

The Brodie exPresso had a 71.2 degree head angle and 74 degree seat angle. It was designed to take suspension forks of the era - such as the RockShox Quadra at 60mm of travel.

What else? Brodie CNC machined rear dropouts, Brodie 2000 series handlebar (139 grams), Brodie Rock Rooster brake booster, top tube cable routing.

That's all I've got, but then again my notes are taken from a...
