Limited Broadband provider choice - what to do for non LLU?

i pay £5 a month more than i should because of BT being robbing gits.

I hate to say it, but i've been using aol for about 11 years now with no problems at all. unlimited tariff & theoretical speeds of up to 16meg if memory serves me correctly, unfortunately i can only get 1 - 1.8 down speeds because of the line but i've never stepped over once because it is a genuine unlimited package. be careful with claims of 'unlimited' as most people have a cap at about 40 / 50 gig

I am in the same boat as the OP and ended up paying £21/month just for broadband from Virgin. Still better than what I could have got from BT (I think it was going to be £26/mo for 2Mb!) and even on the slowest Virgin tariff, it's consistently around 7-8Mb from a theoretical 10.

Welcome Easy_Rider to the 2nd decade of the 21st century with gloriously super fast broadband...! Its a joke... for comparison the second picture my 3G speed on the phone near work.

OFCOM's own figures suggest the UK average broadband speed is 6.5Mbps in July 2010! I'm getting 12% of that speed.
