Kona Rasta Flame

Also, special mention to Pip who'd be flipping out right now seeing another one of these 🙏 I'd have never of scored mine without him ❤️
Cheers Al, I appreciate you commenting on this. I really enjoyed your posts/thread on your bike and it was certainly an inspiration to documenting this find. Nice nod to Pip. I had some good chats with him in the past. RIP in Kona heaven Pip. For the records, SN is H8G0 1526. 18".

Interesting, the frame was made spring/summer of '98, which makes sense as it has the '98 cable routing, but is a Columbus frame when the Explosifs of that time were Reynolds 853 (my '98 853 Explosif frame is H8G0 7405 so built at roughly the same time, same factory). And they therefore were presumably making just a few of these frames to the later specs (in terms of cable routing) but the older tubing, and this was happening alongside the production Explosifs. I'd be interested to know the S/N on some of the other Team "Explosifs" and whether they were all built in one batch (@al-onestare 's is very close to your S/N for example). And I guess this was all because of the Columbus sponsorship.

All the answers are in my thread 😉 You've pretty much hit the nail on the head. I'd put a hefty wager that all of them, however many, probably no more than 20-25 were all made the same time and painted by Enigma in one batch. They were made quickly to try and appease a cheesed off Columbus!

I'll check mine again in the morning. I'll be "racing " it at the Malverns Classic XC 👍
