@PhillB - Wow, really love what you did with your GT. In particular I like the urban setting for the photos - really original idea and it sets it off beautifully!
@Frankenorange @Canuckbiker and anyone else who commented - Thanks for the compliments and encouragement, it's much appreciated!
@Obi-Juan - Lovely stuff. I wonder if that is in fact the exact same colour? I've been using Craftmaster's 'Bethnal Green'.
Ok, so sponge work completed! Was a bit nervous at first but I soon realised that the technique is really just to slap it on without a huge amount of thought which is alot of fun! Once the layers start to build up, the effect evens out very nicely.
It's funny - I remember somebody ordering a Rainforest Adroit at Motosport in Surrey back in the day (anyone remember that shop? Absolutely wicked place!). The few of us that were in the shop at the time stood around drooling over it - my recollection of what it looked like was pretty much what I've attempted here (rather that the neon green and black that I assume it must have been) but I guess it must be a constructed memory. The Pinnacle in this thread was also purchased at Motosport back then - one of the most exciting days of my life at that point. There was also a Horizon Linear Fade Attitude for sale at the time which I begged my parents to help me afford but they weren't having it! Ironically, I expect I would have ended up making a profit by riding that into the ground then refurbing it as the fuselage was only £1300 if I recall! Think I paid about £560 for this frame in black with XT headset and Spinner forks - happy days...
Motosport (now and for many years Beyond Bikes) was my local "boutique" bike shop back in the day as I lived just down the road.
Many a weekend and days during school holidays were spent there, got some bargains from the clearance bins
Where are you from if it was also your local bike shop?
