Hi people, first post here.
I am an old mountain biker from Argentina and recently scored a Kona Kilauea frame.
Size is 19
Serial: H6 K1 4442
I am almost sure it is a 1996 Kilauea, Columbus Cyber
Nice welds, straight butted tubes, 27.0 seatpost.
The surprise came with the weight: 1930 grams. Bare frame.
Why so light?
Im posting some pics of the frame, the welds and the dropouts.
Any coment on why is it so light welcome...

Reynolds 631 decal?

Hahaha, previous owner could not find the proper Columbus sticker and used whatever he could find. Is not Reynolds for sure (would not be bad as I think 631 is gives a super smooth ride). Reynolds dropouts are different. Frame was stripped and clearcoated.

Those dropouts look like 1996 ones to me so i reckon your guess is probably correct. It's light because it uses good quality steel tubes throughout including the rear triangle. A lot of "high end" steel frames today use one or tubes of 853 so that they can put the sticker on the frame but most of it is bog standard 4130.
