I've a roadbike itch that needs scratching

My friend who knows more than me (knows nowt) about road bikes has come over and looked at the bike, he says the brake levers are nasty and set far too low, and that I should be able to ride with my hands on the cowlings (I can't sensibly), would you guys agree? I take it that the bar tape is a one time sticky affair and would need replacing if I moved the levers?

Downtube shifters will be going on tomorrow. . .

Secondly he can't believe it has 10sp groupset age ultegra cranks & BB + brakes. Which he thinks would sell as are for the best part of £100 on ebay.

Thirdly reports the mavic open sport rims & tiagra hubs are lowly which I guessed as they're not sealed, but they're brand new so should go for ages without trouble.

Really does look like I stumbled across a bargain!

I haven't put the down tube shifters on yet so still have the odd wobble changing gear but I've been loving the speed. What I'm not loving is the bars which I'm struggling to get my hands comfy on, so I started looking at new bars with a tighter corner radius on ebay. This is always a dangerous game but I got some new bars, the problem is the whole bike attached to them. . . knocked it down 10% and picked up tonight. . . never turned a wheel in anger, story behind it is good and have a named written addressed receipt from the seller.

So the blue one will have to go up for sale, no right minded roadie will want the pedals pictured so they'll be removed.

I've spent £370 on her in total, new 8sp cassette, new 8sp down tube shifters, new carbon seatpost (-100g), new bioflex carbon saddle (which I'd like to keep -£30 from cost). So will be looking to get that back give or take a bit, I reckon I've only done about 100 miles on it. As mentioned above I've giiven the bike a good going over so is in excellent functional condition. I'll get a for sale thread up tomorrow, if there's no interest then ebay here we go!

Hi Shaun, that's odd i didn't see your post. looking for offers with a price in mind beginning with a 3** with everything as described.

Help please, I've been asked what sze the headtube is 1" or 1 1/8" I don't know what size the head tube is and I don't have the tool to get the headset off. The quill of the stem is 22mmish, I can't get the stem out without disconnecting the cables and I really don't want to have to do that! The od of the headtube 37mmish (smaller than any of my 1 1/8"mtb's) which makes me think it's 1", bikepedia say's 1" but I'm not 100% certain I can trust that. Can anyone help?
