One of my kids was on some sort of gaming website and now whenever you open up the internet it fires up all sorts of sh*tty gaming websites which are very annoying, about 10 at a time..

I assume something must be cache'd on the pc somewhere to kick start this so where do I go to delete/get rid of it !!!

You could try installing and running spybot s&d . .

Be a tad careful though, it's quite powerful. . . can ruin your system, reading the guide before running it is essential imo.

try task manager to see what programs are running .

Sounds like a browser Hijack and it's probably in the registry somewhere. Try the aforementioned Spybot or similar, my preferred option is MalwareBytes anti-malware software which can be had from download.com for free. Either of these should be able to sort it for you.

Try opening the Internet control panel and check that your homepage hasn't been changed assuming that you are running Internet Explorer. If it has, change it back or at least to something benign (Retrobike.co.uk? ) and see if that helps, anti-spyware/malware would be my preferred option though.

Have you tried clearing your internet history, run disc cleanup and then defragment?

a good way is to type 'msconfig' in the run bit if XP or search in vista and chop the junk programs of at the source.

Go to 'startup' and disable everything.

have you got AVG or similar program to stop this sort of thing happening in the first place???

Firewalls and av software won't necessarily stop this..

The general advice is to run a prog similar to spybot once a week in order to clear out little unwanted boogers from your pc.

I also run CCleaner - also free to download and use.
