Is this an example of suspicious eBay bidding?

Strange that this particular bike appears to be drawing bids from so many newer bidders (w/ low numbers next to their names) and the price it's going for doesn't make any sense. I'm not that experienced buying on eBay but I've seen references on this site to unscrupulous sellers that try to get the price of their merchandise up. Wasn't sure if this is such a case. Any comments?

I agree it looks fishy. For that bike, especially.

It seems like they are hoping one of the "real" bidders will hop back in ;)

On the face of it those of a suspicious mind might view this as smacking of shil bidding (windmilling!), but difficult to see why a Seller with over 21,000 sales would bother/have the time to resort to such tactics?

And in the interests of avoiding legal action I hasten to add that I am NOT of a suspicious mind!

I confess my pre-existing cynicism. The only sense I could make is that there looks to be a number written on the crank arm as if the bike might be part of an estate sale or something. In that case, perhaps the seller is looking to get a few extra dollars. I haven't checked into his/her previous sales to see if there's similar activity on other items. Frankly, the most suspicious thing about that ad is just that it's not a very special bike and the description isn't that great either...so why would several newbie eBay buyers be so interested in that particular Klein when there are plenty of other Kleins in much better shape for better prices?

When I first got back into retro bikes I over paid for quite a few bits as I didn't know any better.

Just put a modern Carrera frame on ebay (that no one on here would touch) and people were falling over themselves to get it!

Some people might see the Klein name and just think of the early '90's gear. I know I would have before I was educated on this site.
