INTENSE M1 REAR BRAKE again

Show a machinist a picture of the Specialized sharkfin adapter for the old FSR's and I bet they could fab something:

There was an M1 seatstay and chainstay on Ebay a few weeks ago, but the seatstay is gone now. Swapping those rear pieces would be the cleanest approach if they're compatible. Cloverleaf would probably know.

I have been speaking with north shore billet and they have st least asked for more pictures. Couldn't make out of the pics online, so they have a few now of mine. Couple measurements added along with the hope schematic and the post about the shark fin. Haven't heard back from them today so I'm hopeful their looking into it somewhat seriously at least, at least they've showed an honest interest not just a no like the frame manufacturer or the brake company I'd prefer to use.

We'll see and I appreciate the advise and pointers

So I am having no luck whatsoever finding an adapter to fit my M1. I've talked with intense and HOPE , and a couple machinist. Can anyone assist where I may have luck
As someone else said, that I echo, I had a Hope adapter on mine, it used a specific shortened axle Hope hub that slotted into it. The caliper was then part-secured via a short rod to the chainstays. This would be a rather expensive CNC exercise, on top of finding the caliper specific Hope hub, if you ever got the tech drawings though.

Thank you, the company that makes the spank components is only about an hour from my home and I stopped by yesterday, he said something similar. But the north shore billet company is pretty interested it seems. They asked for additional pics and what size rotor i wanted to run.. been a couple days now but ill see what they say one way or another. Gonna go take a close look at my other m1 today and see what it looks like, never paid much attention to the fine details until now.

The seatstay looks completely different on your frame than on my later model (2000). It's cool that NSB is interested. That probably means they have some passionate techs there that care about historical DH stuff.

(note that the brake setup pictured doesn't actually work - that's a 203 mm rotor and it required a 200 mm, which is on it now. I also needed to grind the Hope adapter to get it seat correctly onto the seatstay mounts)

Yes they do seem to be, yea and these chainstays... there must be a dozen different ones

I hadn't noticed how slim the chainstays were - they're much closer to my Tracer than M1, but it's interesting how your wheel attaches via the chainstay, not the seatstay. I guess they hadn't adopted the FSR style Horst link at that point.

My Tracer had the Uzzi link installed in this picture

Well NSB got back to me today,
I give them huge props for actually looking at the situation but alas its another no win for M1. Here's there response
Hey Tim,
Thank you for all the photos and extra information.

Unfortunately we will have to pass on this project. Generally we do not take on much custom work and right now we're at capacity with our own production work.

Just as a heads up, regardless of the machine shop, something like this would be quite costly to produce based on it being a one-off and time involved to design/make.

Wish you all the best in finding a solution.

Thanks,
Sam

See if you can find the Hope caliper that attaches to the frame via the drop out. Then the clamp is two aluminium u-shapes that fit to the chainstay that connect to the caliper via a short metal tube fitted with adjustable olive-bolts (can't recall correct technical term for these at the moment, sorry) in each end.

Then you need to find the corresponding Hope Ti-Glide/Big Un rear hub with the shorter axle on non-drive side.
