Weird to think that back them race frames were made with a shelf life in mind. As long as they could survive a season or two that was acceptable! Thinking of some of the really light steel frames too.They were very light, stiff frames at the time - that's why.
A race quality construction is different to cargo!

I image they are in the same ballpark as everyone else now their product is far east factory output.

I see quite a lot of broken ones.Saying that, plenty of carbon frames these days have a weight limit that is easy enough for a fully loaded rider to breach (although you don't see many broken ones).
