Imlach's Sweaty Hippie Funk Collection, adventure bikes, rusty rats, cruisers and other alt bastardisations of bicyclery

When is the last time you made a frame for a bike show in less than a day, from scrap steel you had laying around the yard? That is pretty awesome in my books. Hard to do, probably much easier just to mock it
I just don't believe the story. This guy has built a few bikes and it all feels too contrived. Built in less than a day and delivered to the show still warm from the welding sounds like marketing BS to me. Something I've been exposed to for most of my professional life.

This has been designed and carefully put together to look this bad 'cos the guys a fully fledged Detroit Hipster...

I've heard that you taught him how to weld @Guinessisgoodforyou 🤣 ;)😘

Sorry you have been so jaded by the bike industry that you are unable to enjoy the bike. Thats kinda sad.
Also, I don't know where you got the idea of Detroit hipster. He says it was a 2 hour drive to Ann Arbor, Detroit is 45 minutes. He also says he lives "in “The Thumb” of Michigan. Detroit is not there, it's closer to the cuff of the mitten

Why is everyone getting their shorts in a twist over this?
It's just art, not meant to be taken seriously

I once saw a DIY bike which was much the same, imagine the angle iron bits on the above frame replaced with tubular metal cable conduit. The result was heavy and <very> flexy! Some people just prefer to plough their own furrow so to say 🙃

I don't see any twisting, as I said earlier, I thought it was shit and moved on.

All I see is banter and discussion, which is the whole idea of a forum. If we all had the same opinion it would be a sad and uninteresting world.

Look back and you will see I've posted stuff that people have gone wtf and just laughed at.

Because of @MattiThundrrr and @Ingola I've had my horizons expanded in a way I didn't think was possible, I like the muscle bikes of they late 60s and 1970s.

Hey @MattiThundrrr sadly I haven't worked in the bike industry - I so wish I had and applied for lots of bike related jobs when I first graduated, but the bike industry was struggling in the mid to late 90s and there were no creative positions going, even if I worked for free, before paid internships existed.

I'm an industrial designer and I get jaded by all the marketing BS and storytelling that comes with the teritory of designing new stuff. The back story of this last minute bike creation reminds me of the stories behind lots of brands to try and engage and sell stuff to consumers. The bike itself is very cool, but very designed IMHO, lots of thought has gone into making this bike look the way it has and very much doubt it was done in the time scale written down.

Apologies about my geography!!! Replied on my phone and I hate scrolling back in fear or losing what I have written, so relying on my short term memory which is crap, long term memory about bikes is awesome! ;)
