ID of Reynolds 753 frame

Not able to offer any suggestions about who made the frame (although a close friend does have a 531 frame that Tom Board made for her in 1982, still going strong and still attracting favourable comments as it's ridden around London).

In terms of weight, sounds promising. My two Peugeot 753s frames weigh 1747 and 1797g, and the forks weigh 669 and 695g, both 58 cm. Peugeot liked to put chrome on the forks and part of the stays so may have added to the weight slightly.

There is something addictive about 'pinging' a frame and hearing that lovely ringing sound!

I remember this one on eBay, I took a fancy to it but didn't have the funds at the time. Best of luck with it!

Yes, I think it is late 80's and does't have the Rondinella numbering. It have also be suggested Ribble or Graham Weigh frame so need to look into this too. Would be a shame not to badge it correctly, bit more digging required.

Looks exactly like an old Ribble I had - exactly the same colour as that too (metallic pink)

When you say like your frame, would you remember what frame numbering was used or how it was marked if anything. This one has very little to go on to identify it. Would this be consistent with Ribble option?

Do you mean you can tell it's 753, or who made it by pinging it? :mrgreen:

I recently acquired a 753 frame that weighed 1.768kg frame 633g fork. If you look inside the Bb you can see that the tubing is thinner than 531. If you have some verniers you can measure the tubing to compare it to the known tubing sizes. Seat tube is a good place to start.
