 i wouldn't say that too loudly, the current government would probably use it to re impose poll tax in a heart beat.
Which would be a thoroughly good thing imo.

That may take forever.

Not having a heart, they will need to commission a consultation on what constitutes a heartbeat first.

Seriously though, I take the point about these protests having no focus, but they are developing.

It may wind up being good for all of us to look away from the recession a while and start connecting to political movement again.

I was a proud protester when Maggie threw the Poll Tax at us, and a proud campaigner against Apartheid.

I am too lazy to go out and fight for diminishing returns, but I would never hold that against my kids.

When they are old enough the pepper spray and water cannon will be waiting at home if they DON'T get out and protest against whatever they feel is unjust.

So far I have left my actual political views out of it and just got my pants in a twist when people said that disproportionate force was OK in a free country and that it is OK to threaten your grown-up kids.

And true to form - I'm STILL not going to tell you what my political views are - but I do, however, have a "theory" as to why the protesters are so vague as to what they are protesting about.

The "enemy" is an international banking system which is now more powerful than governments. Protesting to the government won't help - as governments are stuck with the debts they owe to the bankers.

Protesting to the banks won't help - because they don't give a monkeys. And because there are no consequences from governments, neither do they NEED to give a monkeys.

No - nothing will change because of these protests. But who can blame people for stating that they are unhappy about an unfair situation? And when the target of their frustration is a vague entity - then surely the protest agenda can be nothing other than vague.

To be fair I don't think anyone has endorsed either. You're exaggerating for effect.

Which is why it's pointless and won't gain broad support. Take on a single fight; one issue, and they'd have a better chance of success and the put down a marker of intent at the same time.

That'll be the LibDems.

I'm not going to stoke the fire with my take on the inherent fairness of the poll tax. Must. Resist.

Of course I am.

Like I said - I don't think success is the real issue (for them).

Just as well.

Can't see the logic myself but hey ho. It's not me freezing in a nylon tent.

Bit OT though, surely? New thread if you MUST.

And meanwhile, back to the real story.

Last seen with the caption."The infamous 'Pepper spraying cop' on patrol on Endor, bringing justice to the Rebel scum."

I don't really care for internet etiquette but I'm not biting this time.

I have a feeling on here I'd be fighting a losing battle.
