Just ventured into retro mtb and bought my first retro. Hopefully it was a good buy as im not too knowledgeable but the LX and XT bits were decent stuff from what i remember. The seller was told it was a Dave Hinde frame but the only markings are a number stamped on rear dropout starting LS

Anyhow here a pics in case anyone recognizes the frame tell me how much it might be worth too to see if i was robbed

may well be a dave hinde dragon
it is an a-pro made (asian) frame
similar to claude bucklers and various others
dont let that put you off tho ,light and good handling frames

as for pricing , think of it this way 2 tyres are £20 , the brakes would be £20 , the forks £40 ish , wheels another £40 ish , mech £25 and so on

£100 complete ?

I gave £80 it rides like new :D

XT brakes avid levers
LX front Mech and XT rear
FSA headset
Club Roost go fast bars and clubroost pedals
Specialized seat n tyres

Not sure what the wheels are but there lx hubs?

By the forks im guessing around 1997? Got a 40 mile local ride to do tomorrow

Cheers were they a decent frame? Any ideas on year?

Do the carbon v brake boosters work it hasone on the rear

thanks again

Brake boosters certainly have a use. They prevent the brake bosses from bending outwards under braking.
At the rear they'll mostly allow better feel and modulation, at the front you can add raw braking power to the list.

the dave hinde dragon being one

Ah i see what you meant now  Makes sense then i suppose the seller was telling the truth. Managed to identify all the parts now other than the rims.
