HELP NEEDED!!

Re:

From Harry Rowland - who builds wheels and used to build frames. ( If you didn't know, that is)

"Take it to your local friendly frame builder and not your local bike shop. He will sort it out whilst thinking about making a cup of tea."

His excellent advice on cold setting rear 126 mm triangles to 130mm rears and applies to front forks as well.

I'd say the front forks have been squashed in slightly :(

You could buy a cheap solid longer axle complete with nuts/cones and fit the axle in the forks
then tighten up the nuts so they start to expand the forks out, doing it a bit at a time
until the wheel fits in nicely or you could do it the bodgers way as just pull the forks
apart until the wheel drops in, not the best way but seen it done.

Other members could offer advice too!

Is what I've done, just using a piece of stud bar in place of the axle. Just nip it up a little at a time.

Re:

one hand on each forkend, just gently pull apart. Not to the point where you feel something bend, just stretching/stressing if you get the drift. Little by little, keep testing with your wheel till it fits.
It shouldn't need a bike shop etc, just common sense and feel.
Remember it got bent to its current state in transit, so it will go back.
