Help identify vintage MTB possible Dave Yates

Retro Newbie
Hi total noob here, so apologies in advance if I haven’t done this right.

I recently picked up and old 80’s/90’s mountain bike from a local bike recycle place and have been trying to figure out what frame it is.

Frantic googling has come up short so thought I’d try my luck on here.

It features filleted brazing and the bottom bracket shell is stamped R 5818

Any help in identifying the frame maker would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
James

Re: Help identify vintage MTB

Very nice looks like Columbus Max tubes.

Re:

So after some digging on google for Columbus max filet brazed frames and the forum I found this picture in a thread that looks to be the identical frame.

Dave Yates custom 1991 in Columbus Max.

Not bad for £30

Will defiantly look into restoring the frame

Looks a good match, and a great price. Are the forks brazed too?

Re:

I’m actually chuffed been after a Dave Yates for some time and then accidentally score one.

Forks are brazed also.

Just wondering if it’s original paint as there’s no visible decals
