Hammerite Paint

Hey all
I have the majority of bits for my P7 ss but most expensive is the paint, powdercoat with blasting filling , primer, colour and clearcoat is £70, now i ve seen a lad from belgum who used black hammerite, has any one else used the hammerite spray and primer, if so how did it turn out?. My f+f are pretty much mint and are prolly worth the money but its cash thats really tight atm, i pretty much only need chain ring, tensioner, saddle and bars and a good few hours polishing cranks and stem.

cheers

£70 for blasting and powdercoating seems a bit steep to me, there are a couple of places near me in Derby that can do it for under £40. Perhaps having the clear coat brings the price up I dunno.

Personally I wouldn't hammerite a frame unless it was just a beater. A P7 definately not! but I suppose it depends on what finish you can get. I presume your meaning the smooth hammerite finish..?

I wouldn't even attempt this. It is tricky stuff to use well, and damned hard to get rid off if it goes wrong.

And it would be a tragedy to Hammerite a P7. Useful stuff for old pedals etc though.

Hi
The pc is blasting and 3 coats, ive seen there work as they do alloy wheels and they look stunning but i spent my spare pennies on the kili comp i got, maybe i should just get the other bits and hang fire till i get the cash or see what a single coat is price wise, i mean do you really need the primer and clearcoat.

I would definately hold on for the cash to come your way... Seems a waste to spend so much time and effort gathering all the parts, but cutting corners on the paint finish.

Fellow Wiganer BTW. Living in Liverpool now though.

I used the hammerite spray on a frame when I couldn't get hold of any satin black . Came out really well , didn't get any runs which is good considering I didn't put much effort into doing it . Having the clear in with the paint was really messy though , the carpet was sticky after , got it on my socks so threw them away . Didn't think I would get it on my arms but they were a sticky mess and it was hard work getting it off . so , it's good stuff but cover up and be ready for everything nearby to get ruined .
