Had one of my late night ideas last night. :D

I went looking for mavic anodized gold or lemon wheels, and found not a lot, possibly some road rims. :? GF's 'new' merlin came with lemon/lime 517 SUP rims... 8) :?: no idea of origin of rims. cold be merlin i guess. ;) will ask

However in new stuff I did find Pimpin' Sunn MTX/S-type (like have on my modern but) in gold :D 8)
And of course offerings from Halo. These modern pickings are a bit heavy, and modern, but OMG those MTX's are lovely!

Any ideas for retro/semi retro XC wheels rims?

cheerz

Mavic 230's come in a TIB version which has a titanium/gold finish to them. Velocity also had a lemony yellow rim I believe.

How about stripping a set of wheels you like. Wet and dy them back to bare metal and send to anodisers. Rebuild and you got a perfect set of gold wheels just the way you want them.

Yeah great idea. you know how it is, I can have my retro bike built with retro bits, but it won't be pimp without all these special bits. The old compromise game! I know that one. Thanks for suggestions, I'll watch all avenues for options. :)

26" Vuelta Airlines come in gold.

EDIT: and they've been making them for almost a decade so they're edging on retro :).
