Finally got all the kit together to SS my Diablo. 16 tooth non-Surley Surley cog, half-width bolts, Cyclosolo spacer ring kit and Surley Singleator.
Unfortunately with a 32 tooth front, the chain is the worst possible length. With the Surley pulling down, the chain slips on the power stroke giving a horrible 'CHUNG', 'CHUNG', 'CHUNG' effect. If I take the side protector bits off the Singleator, it will go on in push-up mode and work perfectly but the chain runs less than a quarter of an inch from the stay - aaargh!
I can't really afford to start buying other size cogs and rings to experiment but also don't want to give up. A half-link chain sounds like a plausible idea but the general concensus on here is that they are cack
