Frame identification help - Marin? two stays on top tube

There are two sets of stops on both the top and down tubes.

Frame, with bb fitted weighs just over 5lbs.

Cheers Bri

1990 ish (non afterburner rear stays) Marin. Tange double butted. Oversize down tube. 17.5” (center to center) frame size. Zolatone paint. No forks but with DX steel headset cups. 2.5Kg / 5.51Lb

Not the lightest thing around then ... :lol:

Seems heavy, my 92 team with bb and headset cups is 4.2 lbs

5 lb = 2270g

2270 - 270 (say a ~UN71 b/b) = 2000 g

2000g = 4.4lb

That's lighter than any of my frames.

Methinks it was probably my mistake :oops:
It must have been without the un71 she is built up today and feels heavier than the Rocky :roll: I was hoping it would be a lightweight too

Nice looking bike there Cap'n.. I've wanted to see a better pic of it since staring at the blurred pic on the bay. Were the Pace forks shot?

Yeah good nick but need new elastomers
As the Rocky also needs some I have gone for Rockstars instead
Better pics up on the forum now

Does anyone know which 1989/ 1990 Marin frames had a seat tube with a larger diameter for about four inches above the BB shell?

My Bear Valley from that time frame does not, and I cannot find any catalogues from the era to compare other models.

The 1988 white team issue earlier in the thread does have this feature.
