I'm only allowed one car...

you'd better make it a nice one then.

I've been looking at a V6 alfa 166, but don't tell the wife.

good luck if it ever needs a cam belt...

we have 5 between us. pick up and her cab are the only ones on the road but they both need some work.

it just never ends

Yes I've heard about the cambelts! Luckely I am in with my local Alfa Specialist. :D Infact I'm driving his 156 shop hack.

fair enough. my mate bought one very cheap from auction, can=m belt service due.

took it to his local mechanic who did a bit of investigating. apparently you need a special tool to do it, available only from alfa at a cost of £700! my mate bodged a tool for nawt

I'm really lucky with the people at work on my cars. I do have good mates on the inside (not doing bird!) in the trade.

I tend to buy cars only when I have an expert as a mate. You have to when you're as cack handed as me!!

I'm on my second (from new) Micra, first one a 1.4 K11 - 107,000 miles and sold at 5yo, second one a K12 160SR - currently 82,000 miles. Never a speck of trouble form either one. Rice burners do it for me :) !

If I'd read this thread a week ago I would have agreed wholeheartedly with the rice-burners comments ... unfortunately everything comes in 3s!! Usually my Mitsy L200 is fab but ... a fortnight ago ... 2 new tyres! A week ago ... new rear suspension ... And yesterday ... a complete new radiator!! AAAARRRGGH!!!!!

Sometimes I do dream of having a normal little run-around car that never goes wrong, but that wouldn't be half as useful or so much fun as a 4x4!! 8)

I think I'll be sticking with my baby-truck for a while longer yet!! :D

:? Ozone layer missing around your house al

Funny cos people say this and how can a justify having loads of cars?

Well the simple answer is, I have never bought a new car and never intend doing so. Most of a cars environmental impact is during manufacture.

Also, I can only drive one at a time, just like everyone else!!

Infact, I cause far less damage than most, as my cars are never working!

al. :D

So true Al, makes no odds how many 2nd hand cars you own, you can only drive one at a time as you say (but you could line them all up and tie some string to all the throttle linkages, stand back and rev them to your favourite tune)

How many years does it take for a new car to "pay off" it's carbon debt? Way more than 10years, and they are scrapping them then, with brand new parts on to get them through an MOT
