Fat Chance Yo Eddy

Great project---I am looking forward to seeing how it comes out (even if you didn't go with pink!).

I concur on the steepness. The Yo is quick! I had a Tange Mtn fork on my '91 for a while and it made for a bit more relaxed, very nice ride. Rody's Ho-Down seems to to livened up my Monster once I replaced the Spinner with it.

Frame is finished and if i get time to pick it up I'm going to build it up for this weekend's 3 Tribes meet. Pics up as soon as it returns.

Well the frame is back and I'm now doing a quick pre-paint build to make sure everything fits. Its probably a good time to start a fresh thread too which i will do as soon as I take some better pics in the morning.
Until then, heres a few teasers of the frame mods.

Nice clean lines.

Mansfield Anodisers have called to say the parts are on the way so looking forward to seeing how they turned out.

looking cool- did you get the rust sorted and have you decided on the colour yet?

Naughty rust all gone now Gaz. Colour?? Still not 100% decided yet- down to Grellow or Team Violet. Forks are the SID 100 Hydra Airs in the pic.

is the frame a more modern one which is suspension corrected? If not will the handling be ok with the forks?

Its a 93 so was designed for a shorter fork. But, the Yo was an agressive race frame with steep angles and a relativly low bottom bracket. The last Aqufade Yo I had ran a long travel Judy DH and for my kind of riding it was perfect- a little slacker in the angles and a little higher BB clearance. Running this fork gives it a 69 degree head angle and you gain an extra 15mm clearance down below which is still quite conservative by modern standards. You will lose some of that sharpness in low speed stuff and when climbing but as you know thats not my strong point anyway  When it comes to faster flowing stuff and techy descents it will really start to shine. Add to that some modern rubber and disc brakes and you have a really good trail bike- retro aesthetics but with a little more usability.

sounds good to me (don't really understand angles anyway  ) agree with a bit of modern bounce and discs makes for a more pleasant day out with retro cool inlarge bucket loads 8) team violet would be my choice.
