Fat Chance Yo Eddy

sounds good to me (don't really understand angles anyway  ) agree with a bit of modern bounce and discs makes for a more pleasant day out with retro cool inlarge bucket loads  team violet would be my choice.

Ameybrook has already done a bouncy disc braked Yo in Team Violet though. I think he's the best builder on RetroBike but don't want to copy his bike. I've always loved the Guvnor's Yo Eddy- the bike that started RetroBike. The Grellow and red anno looks sweet. So If I take the best parts of JV's bike and the best bits of Ameybrook's bike as my inspiration I should end up with something nice built out of what was a very sorry looking frame.

Looks good mate. Is it a later New York built Fat? Looks like a 1 1/8th headtube. It looks like there is a Somerville decal on the seat tube (in the wrong place too :p ) How do you like the ride with that AMP fork?

The holes were drilled out and then small discs of 1mm thick steel were made and then tigged into place. They were then filed down and then it was blasted again. I cannot spot where the holes were tbh. It worked out about the same price as replacing the tube in the end as there were six holes in total. It's a nice way of doing it, the tube is still the original true temper tubing. It's the same technique that we use when repairing holes in classic car bodywork when a customer requires we keep the cars original panels. Replacement would probably have been easier but it's a great repair and I'm very pleased with the outcome. Kevin is a true craftsman and I could not praise his work enough.

It's actually an 89 Team. I had the head tube changed from 1 inch... stupid I know... but 1 inch forks in australia are basically non existant. That was a decade ago. Wouldnt dream of doing anything stupid like that anymore. The AMPs are a good match for it.... although i am still going back to rigid Yo Eddy Fat style from groovy cycles.

Just a quick update. Mocked it up last night just to make sure everything fits and the new cable runs are in the right place. Cranks, post and a few other bits came back from Mansfield Anodisers and I popped them on for the pic. Now getting stripped down to be snt over for powder- a white base that the wet paint will be applied over.

Sorry Gazz for the Grellow and red anno :D
