Erm....ah....OK..... (GT LTS1 content)

Shame, they ride beautifully and a better lighter fork would have made it even better.

If the issues weren't mentioned you may be able to ask the seller for some/ all your money back?

Oh no, he listed it as needing a full resto and bushes (although they seem fine to me!) and I've got lots of bits out of it, there was a box of spares that weren't wrecked with it. It was worth a punt, and I'm not unhappy, it's fiddling with things like this that make me realise I don't really want a full sus as I don't like suspension

Re:

Ignoring shock if frame is dent free and just needing a clean should get a good price for it mate. So no big loss hopefully.

Forks will sell as spares for someone too etc

Exactly, I'm truly not bothered, it's been a good day off tinkering with a bike so I couldn't be happier, and I've now got some useable stuff, and some saleable stuff. That's retro bikes in a nutshell!

Re:

I have a cunning plan....

Gardening today for my old boss, who has a work shop full of left over tools from when we had the bike shop. Sure he will be able to get that stuck crank bolt out, plus he's stronger than me and hasn't got a bad back...yet...

No doubt the BB will be a bar steward too so he can deal with that as well

Any ideas on how to get the top mount bolts for the shock undone, I noticed yesterday that it's held on by two tiny allen head bolts that look as it they're already rounded off??

Try the correct size Allen key, ensure it goes in fully then turn with pressure but ensure it doesn't slip. If they are rounded try a torx bit, sometimes you can get them to bite. Do not reuse the bolts though.

The black travel chips can be tight. Use something that won't damage the plastic to drift them out of the frame from behind.

Good luck ;)

Re:

Thanks Tim. Now I've slept on it, I'm toying with the idea of taking you up on your kind offer and letting you sort out what I can't, I'll see how it goes today and what I can achieve over the weekend, then perhaps we'll chat via PM.

Thanks again, Kaz

Shame about the LTS, I sort of regret selling mine

I have this hanging around soon, just in the process of refinishing it

I may well be interested in the forks if you decide to move them on. Let me know.

Cheers.

Re:

Result!!

Apparently the crank bolt was 'quite stuck' but the BB practically fell out.... Lots of cleaning to now do.

What's the chances of me getting new rings/spider for the chainset? (Had one up until recently and pretty much gave it away  )

And possibly a rough idea of value on the forks for spares? I won't be keeping them for this build, just not my scene being triple clamps.
